Oracle Data Warehouse DBA

Responsibilities:

  • 24*7 support for mission critical production Oracle databases
  • Working closely with development team to clearly understand the business applications and databases supporting the applications
  • Logical design of the warehouse: schema design, ETL processes, data archival, etc.
  • Physical design and implementation of the warehouse on Oracle 10G, ASM with RAC clustering
  • Good knowledge in database replications (Golden Gate or streams)
  • Good Knowledge in partitioning and materialized views.
  • The Oracle warehouse database administration including monitoring, backup/recovery, performance tuning, changes, and capacity planning, etc.
  • Define, implement and maintain ETL procedures and schedules to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of data in the data warehouse
  • Ensure the quality, consistency and security of the data warehouse systems following a defined set of procedures and policies (change control, security procedures, backups, etc).
  • Assist report writers in query performance tuning as requested. Help identify inefficient queries and suggest alternatives. Write PL/SQL packages and stored procedures as needed
  • Participate in database schema design sessions with other production DBAs to ensure seamless coordination of changes between production databases and data warehouses.
  • Actively address business unit requests, clearly communicating commitments, issues, completion dates and status with the requestor and with management.

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Minimum eight years Oracle database experience, with at least 2 years in supporting data warehouse environment
  • Must have excellent understanding and skills in relational database modeling
  • In-depth knowledge of star and snowflake schemas/dimensional modeling and data warehouse methodology
  • Must have hands-on experience in data warehouse schema design and implementation
  • Oracle 10G experience is required, and 10G experience is desired
  • Experience in Oracle Warehouse Builder OBIEE is desired
  • Advanced PL/SQL skills are required
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, have a strong team orientation, learn quickly
  • Strong ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize accordingly
