First Hawaiian launches Popmoney
First Hawaiian Bank has launched a new service that allows customers to send money securely using the recipient's e-mail address or mobile phone number.
The service, dubbed Popmoney, stands for "pay other people."
Senders can include an e-mail or text message notifying the recipient that funds are available for them to electronically deposit in just about any U.S. bank account they choose, according to a news release from the bank. The recipient has to enter a secret code that is sent to their e-mail address or mobile phone number.
