FHB launches Popmoney service

First Hawaiian Bank yesterday launched a service that allows customers to send money securely to friends and family via the person's e-mail address or mobile phone number, the bank announced in a press release.

With the "Popmoney" or Pay Other People service, senders can include a personalized e-mail or text message in the notification that will be sent to the recipients letting them know that funds are available for them to electronically deposit to just about any U.S. bank deposit account they choose, according to FHB. The recipient will be required to enter a secret code that is sent to the e-mail address or mobile phone number provided by the sender to verify their identity.

In addition to the new Popmoney mobile and e-mail transfers, FHB customers already have the flexibility and ease of transfers between their accounts at First Hawaiian Bank and their accounts at other banks, and third-party transfers from their accounts at First Hawaiian Bank to someone else's deposit account.
